Special Events: 20th Anniversary Celebration

On Friday evening October 25, 2002 the Joiner Center celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding with a reception and dinner held at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library at Columbia Point.

Robert A. Glassman and Marshall N. Carter, Vietnam veterans prominent in the business and philanthropic communities were co-chairs of the event, which featured Senator John F. Kerry as keynote speaker and Jo Ann Gora, Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Noted writer Jonathan Schell acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event, its program including music and an awards ceremony honoring four Vietnam veterans: Charles Desmond of the University of Massachusetts Boston; Dr. Ernesto Gonzalez of Massachusetts General Hospital; Robert Muller of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation and the International Campaign to Ban Land Mines; and Sheila Spicer of the Brockton Veterans Center.
