Application Information

2002-2003 Academic Year

The project will support two or more three-to-nine-month fellowships each year beginning in the fall of 2002. We are looking for scholars, writers, and researchers interested in exploring ways in which Vietnamese identity and community as well as Vietnamese history, literature, and culture are being shaped and reshaped in the post-war, post refugee era. Those with interdisciplinary interests are especially invited to apply. Fellows will work with the unique resources of the university and Dorchester communities while in residence. They will receive financial support up to $35,000 as well as a small moving stipend.

For academic year 2002-2003, applicants can apply for an alternative residency option which requires only a short-term residency. Please refer to the Alternative Residency Program for further details.

Dates:
All applications are due on or before January 31, 2002.
Applicants have the option of sending in an initial 1-4 page letter of intent summarizing their proposals for preliminary evaluation. These are to be received on or before December 5, 2002. The letter of intent should state how research relates to residency themes, proposed length of study, and current status of applicant's research. Applicants will receive a response to their preliminary summary by December 20, 2002.
Please note that applicants are not required to submit this letter.

The selection of Rockefeller fellows for Academic year 2002-2003 will be announced on or near March 15, 2002.

Themes:
Applicants are to refer to all three Theme Groups, but should not feel completely constrained by them. Proposals related to any one of the three Theme Groups will be considered. Innovative approaches are encouraged.
