Conferences

Topical conferences, seminars, exhibits, and lectures have been sponsored on such issues as Women and the Military, Minority Veterans, Agent Orange, the War Film, the Health Effects of the Vietnam War, and Gulf War Syndrome, attracting many prominent artists, scholars, medical experts, government officials, politicians, and activists to the UMass Boston campus.

Each year during the first week of May, the Joiner Center sponsors the Conference on the Concerns of Veterans in Washington, D.C. Over five days veterans leaders and advocates from around the country meet with elected and government officials to inform them of the issues confronting veterans and to present testimony to Congressional committees.
