About the Workshop

Begun in 1988, the William Joiner Center’s Annual Writers’ Workshop welcomes writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and translation for two weeks of classes, panels, discussions, exhibits, readings and good company the last two weeks of June each year. Taught by a faculty of Iraq and Vietnam veterans and others whose works address issues of social justice, cultural, political, and community concern, the workshop features visiting writers from around the globe. Past visitors have hailed from Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Northern Ireland, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Ukraine.
